The Logo (Briefly) Explained

First, let me give credit where credit is due. Thank you Brand Perfect for the incredible logo and for being so easy to work with!

LEAVES

We all go through seasons in life. Some are more fruitful than others. Some are ‘warm(er)’ while others are ‘cold(er).’ The leaves (or lack thereof) are meant to represent this reality.

BRANCHES

In Matthew 13.31-32, sometimes referred to as the 'Parable of the Mustard Seed, Jesus explains that the Kingdom of God is like a small seed that grows into a tree in whose branches birds can nest.

BIRD

Notice that there is only one bird. (I don't know if it is a finch, but let's pretend it is. ;) )

I am an only child, an introvert, and (usually) a solo artist. I have spent a lot of time alone in my life, and I have had that “alone in a crowd” feeling more than I would like to admit.

You will notice that many of my songs come from a sad, dark, and lonely place, but don't let that alarm you. I have a vibrant faith, a church community, a wife and kids, and plenty of friends.

I have just had some struggles in life (haven't we all???), and the songs I've written have helped me through some difficult times when I felt like it was “me against the world.” I have felt like that lone bird on a bare branch.

ROOTS

St. Paul talks about being “rooted and grounded” in love and faith (see Ephesians 3.16-19 and Colossians 2.6-7) and states that the gospel of Christ is “bearing fruit” all over the world (see Colossians 1.3-6).

I have spent a lot of my life feeling “rootless.” I have struggled to find my place in the world, and, even now, at 40 years old (at the time of this writing), I am struggling to figure out what I am going to be when I grow up (if I ever do, that is ;) ).

Nevertheless, I am rooted in Christ and His Church. Without that rootedness, I don't know where I would be.
